BeeCARE ships each elevated hive stand with all the required materials and supplies -- all you supply is the screwdriver or drill.  The ideal tool is a power drill with a blunt Phillips-head drill bit, as shown here.

Go to the top of the pageEach leg is recessed to fit into the corner of the hive stand base.  Fit the recessed area of the leg so the long side of the leg is facing the long side of the stand and the short side of the leg is facing the front or back of the stand, as shown here.

Hold the leg firmly into the corner of the frame so the edge of the leg's recessed area fits snugly against the bottom of the frame.  Put one of the supplied screws into the single pilot hole on the front or back of the stand (a short side).  While firmly holding the leg into the corner of the frame, quickly screw the leg to the frame.

Flip the frame around 90° and put the supplied screws into the two pilot holes on the long side of the stand.  Screw the leg securely to the frame using both screws.

Repeat this process for the remaining legs.

Your hive stand is now completely assembled.  You may now finish the wood in the way you prefer.  I only paint mine with a high-quality acrylic exterior latex*.  Others prefer to apply linseed oil or a metal-impregnated treatment to retard the growth of mold.Go to the top of the page

* The latex paint we use does not require priming and preserves the wood without additional oil preparation. It is Sherwin Williams "SuperPaint", Exterior Latex Gloss, Super White, item 107-7171. This paint is absolutely the finest available, and carries a 20-year warranty from Sherwin Williams.
