Complete Hive System | telescoping (top) cover the top, outer cover on a beehive, usually made of wood and covered with a metal sheet; the top cover rests on the inner cover, on top of the topmost hive box, and extends beyond the sides of the hive to provide a rain shield. It is customary to stack rocks, bricks or cinderblock on top of the telescoping cover to prevent raccoons and the like from raiding the hive. Added weight on the cover also ensures high winds won't disassemble the hive during a storm. See also: Starter Hive |
Water-soluble powdered terramycin, for feeding in sugar syrup Pack of terramycin extender patties | terramycin an antibiotic* used to prevent American and european foulbrood, delivered in either soluble powered form, to be mixed with sugar syrup or applied as powder to the beehive's brood frame top bars, or in extender patty form, to be placed on top of the brood frames. BeeCARE recommends the extender patty, as the efficacy of the drug is greatly extended, increasing the likelihood of preventing foulbrood.
