Old-style landing board | a small, angled platform at the entrance of the hive on which bees descend and settle after flying, also referred to as an alighting board. Larvae are clearly visible in some of the open cells | an immature honeybee, in a white, legless, grub-like form, which develops within a brood cell; the larval form is the second stage of bee metamorphosis, following the egg stage and preceding the pupal stage.
