Here you can see a portion of a brood frame with a variety of different kinds of cells, including uncapped brood cells (containing eggs or larvae), nectar cells (uncapped cells containing uncured honey), and capped brood cells (containing pupae). You can see the queen at the lower right of the picture, marked with a yellow, identifying paint spot on her thorax. This spot makes it easier for the beekeeper to locate her and monitor her health.
