Here you can clearly see a honeybee's proboscis protruding from her mouth as she feeds on sugar syrup in a hive-top feeder. The proboscis is a flexible, tubular sucking organ that extends or that is capable of being extended from the mouth of a honeybee (its tongue), used for feeding on nectar, syrup, or water, and for sampling food.
