Remove, inspect and store more frames
Working your way toward the main brood cluster, remove additional frames and inspect them also, storing them outside the hive in the same manner. By removing and storing multiple frames in this way, you can make more room for inspecting the main brood cluster and minimize the chance of injuring or killing bees.
You may choose not to remove as many frames as shown here. In most cases, it is really only necessary to remove the outside frame and store it in this manner. Then, you may simply remove one frame at a time, inspect it, and put it back into the hive box, sliding it over against the last frame inspected. In this manner, you can work your way through the entire box, with only one frame stored outside the box.
However, in this case I am removing more frames in order to treat a wax moth infestation in this weak hive, which among other things, requires me to physically remove all traces of the moth from the bottom board and hive box.
